I found this treasure in a St. George Dollar Tree a couple days ago. Are you kidding me? It’s an autobiography by Ani difranco called “No Walls and the Recurring Dream.” I’m a huge Ani fan, love memoirs and especially musical bios. I’ve got a growing collection, including the autobiographies of Morrissey and Chrissie Hynde. I still need to read the latter—I started it but got distracted. I’m interested in acquiring the autobiography of Kim Gordon from Sonic Youth.
Autobiographies have helped me gain a greater appreciation for Anthony Kiedis of the Red Hot Peppers (“Scar Tissue”), Pete Townsend of The Who, Keith Richards of The Rolling Stones and Johnny Lydon of Sex Pistols and Public Image Limited (“Anger is an Energy.”)
Coming across the book by Ani DiFranco for $1.27 when impulsively slipping into the Tree (that’s what the hip kids call it) when I haven’t shopped there for a year felt especially serendipitous.
This is added to my bookworm queue, which is always a sizable stack. Book review pending.
