Battlestar Eclectic

Sarah Torribio and her right brain. Music. Musings. Writing. Style.

Just what we need: Another shoe-gaze, noise pop band with slightly breathy vocals. Another song powered by a 3-chord riff featuring notes so alike as to be Siamese twins, or notes off the Smashing Pumpkin album Siamese Dream. It’s hypnotic and just plain pretty.

I’m not being sarcastic. “Hide-a-Lullaby” is just what we need. It offers timeless aural enjoyment, taking listeners back to the aughts and even the 1990s.

If you like music in the vein of My Bloody Valentine, Gish-era Smashing Pumpkins and the Silversun Pickups, if you like hypnotic guitar fuzz thick as pea soup, Winter is your band.
