Sarah Torribio and her right brain. Music. Musings. Writing. Style.

Black Hawk helicopters are circling around Chicago and the airspace is shut down.

There is allegedly “a credible threat” that law enforcement, namely ICE, will be targeted by drones during their operation to deport what they characterize as criminal illegal aliens.

On the View, Joy Behar is setting new levels of shrillness and an alarmist view that is nowhere close to the purported vow off left-leaning media to “tone down the rhetoric.” In one segment, she had this to say in light of the malignant racism shown by Trump when he tweeted a picture of Hakeem Jeffries with a sombrero and a twirly mustache. According to the gals, Trump mocked a sitting member of congress and somehow thought the perfect jab at Jeffries’ minority status (he’s African-American as well as the as well as minority leader of the House of representatives) was to portray him as a Mexican.

You may view the White House tweet as waggish, puerile, hilarious or xenophobic and hateful. By any measure, however, Joy’s response is over-the-top. Is she trying to incite whatever number of American house-wive’s who can endure the non-conversation that is The View?

Behar says it’s always something with Donald Trump. Every day, his actions evoke “shock and awe.” Joy says things have never been this bad, and that, she notes, is coming from someone who grew up during world War II.

Trump, she says, is the only president to completely flout the law and the Constitution. Even Nixon, “as bad as he was,” was no scoff-law.

Behar’s conclusion, stated twice with feeling, is that America cannot survive another 3 1/2 years of a Trump presidency.

Perhaps the hysteria of The View is catching, but I cannot hear a presidency posed as an existential threat without thinking it’s a call to violent action.

Then again, it’s just business as usual at The View. Make statements with more certainty than the most astute political pundit. Shout down any guest with opposing opinions.

To Behar, I have this to say. “Hush, hush. Keep it down now. Voices carry.”
