“Sundown Dialogue” by alt-rock duo Still Blank unfolds like a flower. It’s a gentle reverie marked by guitar that wanders like a log let off his leash.
Jordy, who hails from Manchester, is a fresh-soun
Each note is a surprise, like an oddly chosen word that isn’t quite how you’d finish the sentence. There’s angst here but also just hang loose acceptance, reflecting the group’s background that includes the British isles and the Garden Isle of Kauai.
Guitarist Ben, who hails from Manchester, starts the song quiet, like he’s opened a music box. Then, like the sun peaking through a cloud, a nice, stony riff–circular, hypnotic–emerges from a light haze of guitar fuzz. The resulting ambiance is more sandal-glance than shoe gaze.
Vocalist and multi-instrumentalist Jordy, the pair’s Hawaiian half, has a soft, sweet, blown-kiss of voice. It’s framed by the occasional burst of birdsong and guitar that climbs towards the ether or at least to the top of the palm trees.
It’s promising stuff for Still Blank, whose eponymous album was released in November 2025.
