“This Wheel’s On Fire” by Siouxsie and the Banshees is my song of the day. I’ve only just discovered that it’s a cover of a song by Bob Dylan performed with The Band. This leads me to understand that every song on the Banshees’ 1987 studio album Through the Looking Glass, and consequently a good many on their live album “Nocturne,” are covers.
I like the Bob Dylan version iteration–slow and lonesome and western and low-fi. It puts me in mind of multi-instrumentalist Andrew Byrd. Still, I prefer Siouxsie’s version, probably because I heard it first. It’s got momentum.
