My song of the day is “The Crab/Water Baby” by Tiny Ruins. It’s charming, sweet, pretty and quiet. It sounds, in fact, like the record should be spinning atop the stick supporting a music-box ballerina rather than on your hi-fi.

The band is from Aukland. New Zealand is across the world from me, but has produced some wonderful music like indie rock outfit The Beths.

Back to Tiny Ruins, an indie rock/dreampop duo comprised of Hollie Fullbrook on vocals and Cass Basil on bass. According to the Internet, this single is the first music released by the group since their 2019 debut album Olympic Girls.
