Battlestar Eclectic

Sarah Torribio and her right brain. Music. Musings. Writing. Style.

I want to delve even more into other writers’ work, on wordpress and elsewhere. I can’t be always looking for an audience. I have to be one.

That’s how the exchange of social media goes, and how the good vibes flow back and forth between creators. I have to be willing to be part of the community.

The writer I have reposted and boosted most on this platform is a wordsmith named Elancharan Gunesekaran. He publishes poetry and stories, sometimes in fragments, perfect for the busy writer.

In fact, however, reading a number of his posts can be really edifying. This is because he does imagery and metaphor like no one else.

Not everything he writes grabs me by the collar, but it happens often enough. He writes of a world that is strange, where the daily slog and struggle for fulfillment, take on epic proportions.

He looks around his city and around the world and sees omens, from a group of cawing birds to the cradle of a king, from a strange black sandstorm to a tree root snaking its way through the pavement.

These aren’t his words. It’s me trying to capture the otherworldly feel of his writing. All I know is that magic, death, love, sex, archetypes and lots of weather play into his poetic panoply and into his philosophy.

He always cautions us to look closely. I’m looking.
