Yvette, who worked for an employment company, had a ritual. She started every work day by arranging a bagful of pan dulce on a plastic tray, a treat for all comers.
She ended each day by dropping a mysteriously profound statement.
She’d say something like, “I’ll see you tomorrow, unless CERN opens a portal to hell.”
Or “Everyone wants to listen to Tupac, but no one wants to LISTEN to Tupac.”
Yvette considered herself a foot soldier of the Great Awakening. She explained her tactics thusly, “I sweeten the pot and then drop a truth bomb, let them marinate in it.”
