Battlestar Eclectic

Sarah Torribio and her right brain. Music. Musings. Writing. Style.

This mellow indie rock song by Stella Donnelly contains the refrain, “I love you baby, but I’m scared to be near you. It’s not the same, it’s not the same when you’re here.”
.
“Feel It Change,” off the album Love and Fortune (set to drop November 7) addresses the strange strain of relationships, particularly at a time when so many ardent declarations are not uttered but instead slipped into in a social media DM. Is it forever or just another situation-ship? Can the passion survive actual proximity?

Stella Donnelly is from Australia, which remains a hotbed of great music. Could it be the Vegemite? This particular tune has just a touch of melodic dissonance and is sprinkled with the fairydust of jangly guitar. Combined with the song’s short and sweet duration, it makes for a happy bit of melancholy.
