In a world that feels positively cacophonous, it’s heartening to hear some melodic dreampop kissed by the angelic sound of strings. “Wait & See” by Saint Motel, which just dropped a week ago, is lush and extravagant in its production.
It’s fitting that the Los Angeles band’s latest album, released in February 2025, is called Saint Motel & the Symphony in the Sky. The quartet is obviously prolific. I’ve heard of double albums (the Smashing Pumpkins’ Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness) and even unicorn-rare triple album (Sandinista! by the Clash).
I have not, however, heard of a “companion album.” This is, however, exactly what Saint Motel is touting on the group’s website. They’ll be releasing what i suppose will be a sonic sister to Symphony in the Sky on October 10. The continuing story will be called Afterglow.
