I came across this little poem I wrote back in August. It very much speaks to the state I’m in. As I re-post it, it feels like I’m talking to me.
I reminded of that line from Alice in Wonderland: I give myself very good advice, but I very seldom listen.
‘Don’t Beat Yourself Up’
Is anyone else too damn hard on themself?
Don’t store all your dreams on the tippy-top shelf.
If you bully yourself into action with fear,
tell your meaner half, “Chill. Victory’s ours, free and clear.”
If you’re sad and forget just how to have fun,
play croquet, drink rosè and lay out in the sun.
