Song of the Day: ‘Feel It Change’ by Stella Donnelly

‘Feel it Change,’ a mellow indie rock song by Stella Donnelly, contains the refrain, “I love you baby, but I’m scared to be near you. It’s not the same, it’s not the same when you’re here.”

It addresses the strange strain of relationships, particularly at a time when so many declarations occur in a social media DM. Is it forever or just another situation-ship?

Stella Donnelly is from Australia, which remains a hotbed of great music. Could it be the Vegemite? This particular tune has just a touch of melodic dissonance, is alt-country enough to evoke an old Ford, parked in a meadow of daisies.

Topping off this sonic sundae is a sprinkle of fairy-dust courtesy of jangly guitar. Combined with the song’s short and sweet duration, it makes for a happy bit of melancholy.

    I don’t usually listen to this genre of music but after playing the clip of the song in your post and hearing it, your description of it is more than accurate 🎤🎶🫡💯

      I like all genres of music, though I haven’t dived too deep into jazz or blues. I came across another cool song today. It’s by Kenny Hoopla. I find music on Letsloop.com, a music-sharing site.

      I grew up listening to KROQ in the LA area in the ’80s and early ’90s, so alt and indie rock is my default.

        Wow that's fantastic 🤟😸. I grew up with Reggae, Hiphop and Soca, meaning those are what played often in my culture, but just like you I always had interest in other genres as well.

        LOL definitely; he’s basically on every person’s reggae radar 😹😹. It’s so cool that you know about Yellowman, it shows that you are a true music enthusiast, I wasn’t expecting a Cali girl to know reggae that well haha. Yellowman is a certified reggae legend lol
