My song of the day is “Billie Toppy,” a new offering by Canadian indie-rock band Men I Trust. I’m not a huge fan of the country’s current prez (Can you talk politics on Let’s Loop? Or is it like the holiday dinner table?) When it comes to cool music, however, Canada is the gift that keeps on giving.
This song made me swivel around in my The Voice chair thanks to frontwoman Emmanuelle Proulx’s pretty, breathy vocal delivery and driving darkwave guitar with an ’80s aesthetic. I’ll take it and have seconds.
