I love this dark-tinged but momentum-filled song of regret. Singer/songwriter Connie Constance, whose real name is Constance Power, has a deliciously pretty voice made hip by a bullet-fast delivery and an English accent I’m told by Wikipedia was crafted in Watford.
The melodic accompaniment is a bright and driving electronic soundtrack that I imagine is the sonic version of a neon-lit Tilt-a-Whirl when the fair is about to close. I’m going to listen to this again and for me, that give-it-to-me-on-repeat urge is the trademark of a song and artist I’m going to remember.
For me, the British Invasion has never ended. It’s never-ending onslaught and, though I’m largely a pacifist, I keep rolling out the welcome mat.
