Finally, a new song off a new album by The Beths. I’ve been waiting for it. It’s called “Expert in a Dying Field” and is off the album from the same name.
“The Beths are a New Zealand indie pop band, originally from Auckland,” Wikipedia tells me, adding that, “formed in 2014, the band consists of Elizabeth Stokes, Jonathan Pearce, Benjamin Sinclair, and Tristan Deck.”
Anyhow, they’re one of my favorite bands making music today. As usual, I learned about them eons late, maybe two or three years ago. But I’ve truly never heard a song by The Beths that I didn’t love.
Elizabeth Stokes is a compelling frontwoman, introverted but direct, with smart lyrics and an emotive voice. there’s a a sense that she’s writing after her emotions are digested, or at least partly-digested. Thoughtful, I guess you’d say.
